On July 2nd, 2025, the Hoa Phat Dung Quat project department of HT received the Zero-Accident in One-Million Man-Hour Award from Hoa Phat Dung Quat steel plant. This marks the first time a Chinese EPC contractor has won this award in recent years. The award signifies strong recognition from the client for safety management, serving as another significant milestone for HT in the overseas EPC engineering market.
Since HT contracted with the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Plant, a total of eight EPC projects have been completed, reflecting the client's full trust. Ongoing projects include a 2.2 million ton per year (tpy) coke oven project, a 550,000 ton per year (tpy) coke oven project, a 2x 160 tons per hour (tph) CDQ project, and a 160 tph CDQ project. The total construction area, spanning approximately 25 hectares, comprises a coal preparation shop, coking shop, CDQ, Wet Coke Quenching (WCQ) facility, coke screening and transportation shop, along with ancillary facilities. The project involves various disciplines, including steel structures, equipment installation, refractory work, power, electrical systems, automation, anti-corrosion measures, and heat preservation. Eleven subcontractors, employing a total of 400 workers, participated in the construction.
Since the commencement of the project, senior officials from HT—including representatives from the Safety and Environmental Protection Department, Project Management Department, Construction Management Department, and Overseas Marketing Department—have conducted site inspections at Hoa Phat Dung Quat's construction facilities. They oversaw safety management and provided guidance at key milestones throughout the project. The project team has prioritized safety by strictly adhering to the company’s safe production management protocols, requiring every employee to identify even the smallest safety deficiencies.
Despite facing challenges such as large-scale construction, extensive work areas, tight deadlines, working at heights, year-round high temperatures, prolonged rainy seasons, multitasking, and concurrent operations, the project team overcame these obstacles and developed effective solutions.
As the production of the EPC projects commences sequentially, the Hoa Phat Dung Quat project has entered a critical phase in which intensive construction activities, equipment commissioning, performance guarantee measures, and project defect rectification are all underway simultaneously. This situation necessitates even higher standards for the project department’s safety management.
In the upcoming phase of safety management, the Dung Quat Project Department of HT will continue to uphold the principle of Safety First, Quality Above All. The team will make every effort to ensure both project safety and high quality, delivering outstanding results to the client while reinforcing our company’s gold standard reputation in safety management.
