On the morning of August 20, 2020, at the CDQ commissioning ceremony for the Xiaoyi Pengfei 2×170 t/h CDQ and Power Generation Project, which our company serves as the general contractor, colorful banners fluttered in the wind and the venue buzzed with excitement. Wang Tinghong, Deputy Secretary of the Xiaoyi Municipal Party Committee and Mayor; Xu Lie, Chairman of Huatai Yongchuang; and Zheng Peng, Chairman of the Board and President of Xiaoyi Pengfei Group, along with other relevant leaders, attended the ceremony. At 10:58 a.m., Mayor Wang Tinghong announced the official commencement of production for the Xiaoyi Pengfei No. 1 CDQ Unit, before the first batch of red coke was successfully charged into the CDQ furnace, prompting thunderous applause that filled the venue which blended into a beautiful symphony of celebration.

The contractual construction duration for this project is 14 months. Since construction began in June 2019, all project staff working on the front lines have persevered through thick and thin, upholding the corporate spirit of unity and hard work. On August 16, 2019, Chairman Xu Lie traveled to Xiaoyi to meet with Pengfei Group Chairman Zheng Peng, and they set the goal of guaranteeing completion one month ahead of schedule while striving to achieve completion another one month earlier. Early this year, an unexpected COVID-19 pandemic swept across the globe. After the pandemic was officially recognized as a force majeure event, Chairman Xu Lie returned to Xiaoyi on March 14, 2020 to meet with Chairman Zheng Peng, reaffirming the overarching goal: “Although the COVID-19 pandemic has had a massive impact, the project schedule must remain unchanged!” In response to this call, everyone involved in the project truly worked “five days plus two, day and night,” and overcame numerous difficulties such as challenges in deploying construction personnel, delays in equipment deliveries from manufacturers, and obstructions in equipment transportation. Through meticulous organization, united efforts, and tenacious hard work while actively strengthening communication with the client, contractors and equipment manufacturers, they made up for the time lost due to the pandemic and completed this seemingly impossible task with both quality and quantity assured. This marked yet another groundbreaking achievement in CDQ construction for Huatai which was unprecedented even in the entire world!

It is particularly worth noting that with the successful commissioning of the Xiaoyi Pengfei CDQ project, Pengfei Group has become the first enterprise in Xiaoyi City to put a CDQ facility into operation.

 Following this project, our company has successively signed CDQ contracts in Shanxi, including the Jiaokou Wangzhuang, Jinyan Group, Pengfei Xinyu, and Xinshi Coal Coking projects. Taking the commissioning of the Xiaoyi Pengfei CDQ project as a starting point, we will continue to work hard and build on our success to contribute to the preservation of Shanxi’s “clear waters and lush mountains.”
